For users
Somewhere along the way the deal changed. You make the thing that makes a place worth visiting — the answer, the argument, the drawing — and somebody else books the value of it. Your audience gets rented back to you. Your reputation becomes a number in a database you can't read, that doesn't travel, and that vanishes the day the company does.
Tuath starts from the other assumption: the value belongs to the people making it, and so does the record of having made it.
Your standing is yours, not ours
Enech isn't a row in our database. It's an attestation on a public chain, attached to your identity rather than to your account with us — readable by anyone, including software we didn't write. If we disappeared tomorrow it would still be there and still yours. It can fall, but only through a jury, in public, with a reason attached. There is no lever here for quietly adjusting someone.
Lose your key, keep everything else
Keys get lost. When it happens you prove you are the same person and the account comes back to you on a new one — and it is the whole account, not just the way back into an empty one. Your standing, your purse, your name, your profile, your posts, the work you have minted, who you follow and who follows you, what you have asked and answered, the jury seats you were part-way through, and every payout you are owed. None of it was ever attached to the key. It was attached to you.
Nobody here knows who you are
No legal name, no phone number, no address. You proved you were a person once and prove it again each week, and that proof carries a yes or no and nothing else. We can't sell what we don't hold, and we couldn't hand it over if we were asked to.
Nothing is optimising you
There's no feed learning what upsets you in order to serve you more of it. What rises is what's posted by people who've earned the standing to be heard. That's a worse business than the alternative, and it's deliberate.
The money leaves
$BONN in your purse is yours, and withdrawing it is an instruction your own key authorises. Hold enough SOL for a transaction fee and you can send it yourself — no request to us, no server of ours involved. We pay that fee for people who have no SOL, because otherwise cashing out wouldn't exist for them at all. But paying the postage isn't deciding whether the letter goes.
The rules change in the open
Prices and splits live in a configuration account on the chain, not compiled into the software. When one changes, the change is a transaction with a timestamp that anybody can read. You won't discover from a blog post that the terms quietly moved last March.
The code is open
Every repository is public under AGPL-3.0. Read it, run it, fork it. If someone builds a competing service on this code, the licence requires they share their changes back. It's meant to outlive whoever happens to be running it.
You're not the product, and here's what pays instead
Most of what happens here costs nothing: asking, answering, posting, reporting, sitting on a jury. Money enters only when somebody wants something specific — a bounty on a question, a commissioned piece, or reach for a post.
Boosting can be used for advertising, though it differs in the two ways that matter. Nothing about you is sold to aim it, because nothing about you is held — there is no profile of your interests here to buy. And every coin of it goes to the community vault, the same vault that pays your weekly standing. When someone buys attention on Tuath, they are paying the people whose attention it is.
A boosted post is judged as it goes up, not after. Boosting happens at the moment of posting — there's no buying reach for something already in circulation — and it opens the same eight-person Dáil that any reported post faces. Paying for reach doesn't buy an exemption from the standard everyone else is held to. It requires the review.
None of this is nostalgia. What people miss about the old internet wasn't that it was smaller — it was that the person on the other end was a person, and what you got back was made by someone who meant it. That's still buildable. It just has to be built on purpose, and paid for honestly.
